Four years of penetration testing and continuous vulnerability management across more than 10,000 assets took New Mexico State University's security rating from a D to an A.
For the past four years, DSA has run yearly penetration tests and ongoing vulnerability management across more than 10,000 disparate assets at New Mexico State University. Before the engagement, the university's third-party auditor rated NMSU's security at a D level. With DSA's help, and the establishment of NMSU's own Cyber Team, that rating climbed to an A, according to Carlos Lobato, the university's Chief Security Officer.
DSA tracks cybersecurity vulnerabilities identified across key government and commercial sources continuously, using tools including the Ivanti Neurons platform. The program supports reporting, visualization, ticket generation, and tracking for every vulnerability over the life of the engagement. For NMSU specifically, DSA's approach was customized to the university's needs and restricted on a need-to-know basis.
