What EUI Measures

The U.S. Department of Energy's ENERGY STAR program defines Energy Use Index as a unit of measurement that describes a building's energy use. It's expressed in BTUs per square foot per year, and it lets you compare energy consumption across similar building types, or track a single building's performance from one year to the next.
